Explore Datapeople's Overall Source Report

The Overall Report, part of Datapeople's Source Insights, is your source of truth for tracking which sources your applicants and hires come from.

Datapeople's Overall Source Report

Datapeople's Overall Report contains vital information about where your applicants and hires are coming from, helping you determine your most efficient and cost-effective ways to attract candidates. It can answer questions like:

  • Which sources do most applicants come from?
  • Which of these categories lead to the most hires?
  • Are we getting a healthy amount of inbound applicants? Are they translating into hires?
  • Do we need to adjust our strategy to balance applicant sources?
  • Are we hiring disproportionately from any source category or categories? E.g., in the above example, we see that referrals constitute only 0.6% of applicants but 7.7% of hires. Is this an intentional practice or a potential bias?

You can view this information in the bar graphs at the top of the report or in the table at the bottom.

In the above example, we see that there were 5,340 inbound candidates, 34 referrals, 9 outbound candidates, and 2 internal candidates at the top of the funnel. You can see the pass-through rates for each of these groups as they move through your hiring process.

Analyzing our Application-to-Hire Pipeline

Understanding where the majority of your applicants come from can be useful information when determining where to spend your time or money, however comparing your applicant sources to the sources of applicants who are hired can help you discover which sources are most valuable. It is expected that source ratios for applicants and hires would align. If most of your applicants come from LinkedIn, you would expect most of your hire to come from LinkedIn.

TIP: If your hires are mostly coming from sources other than your most popular one(s), you may consider whether your popular source(s) is providing high-quality candidates, or if there are certain biases which tip the scales in favor of other sources.

Driving Inbound Recruiting

You can use this report to ensure your candidate pool is drawing enough inbound traffic at the top of the funnel, and to identify differences in inbound and outbound sources, where biases may be affecting your process.
TIP: A high differential between your inbound and outbound candidate pools could warrant a look into your processes so that all applicants have a fair chance.

ROI on Paid Sources

The Inbound and Outbound reports can offer a specific look into those sources and their relative performance to help make decisions on where your resources are best allocated.

  • Paid and Sponsored Inbound sources should, in theory, provide a greater number and quality of candidates compared to Free sources.
  • The Outbound Report can also help gauge performance of any Prospecting and Agency sources you have enlisted.
