Explore Datapeople's Demographic Survey Report
Datapeople's Gender Report, part of our Process Insights, tracks candidate-reported gender and racial representation to ensure your hiring process is equitable at every stage.

Datapeople's Demographic Survey Report surfaces information about the responses you receive from candidates through your demographic survey . It can answer questions like:
- How many candidates are filling out the survey?
- What is the gender/racial representation of the candidate pool by stage?
- Are there any areas that the survey is not reaching its intended audience?
Using demographic information collected from candidates can provide the most accurate data, however due to typically low submission rates, generalizing a small sample of data to an entire candidate pool can be dangerous, so this report leads with insights about how robust your data is.
With a high survey submission rate, you'll be able to view the Survey Insights tab where you can see the gender and racial distribution of candidates throughout your recruiting process.

The table at the bottom of the report shows the pass-through rates at each stage:

When submission rates are low, you can explore the Distribution Insights tab to see if there are any areas that the survey is not reaching its intended audience.
Explore if there are certain application workflows where candidates are not receiving the survey.
Identify requisitions that may unintentionally have survey collection settings turned off and access your ATS settings directly from Datapeople to make necessary updates.
NOTE: The decision of when and who to survey about demographic information is a choice that is solely up to the individual organization, but Datapeople can help you ensure that your survey is reaching all intended candidates.
What data is used to populate the Demographic Survey Report?
Datapeople uses the candidate-submitted survey data that you collect through your ATS, via our integration. All candidate information is anonymized, so survey data is not tied to specific candidates.
Datapeople has chosen to report on the standard gender and race questions/categories federally-recognized by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs, in order to keep reporting standard across customers and to avoid ingesting sensitive data. Because of this, Datapeople will not ingest data from or report on custom surveys. Read more here.
How does the Demographic Survey Report differ from Datapeople's Gender Report?
The Demographic Survey Report uses candidate self-reported data, which is the best source of demographic data, but can often be detrimentally incomplete. Unreported EEO data can skew perceptions of the demographic makeup of your applicant pools.
Datapeople's Gender Report uses a 95% accurate gender-inference model, which has proven to be directionally similar to demographic data, and can help fill in gaps on big-picture diversity trends when you have little candidate-submitted data.
How does the Demographic Survey Report differ from the demographic reports my ATS offers?
- Unlike most platforms, Datapeople's Demographic Survey Report helps you:
- assess the completeness and manage the data integrity of your demographic survey data
- helps you visualize this in an actionable way
- Unlike BI tools that require configuring and maintenance, Datapeople's Demographic Survey Report is completely automated and stays updated even as your ATS configurations change.
- Datapeople's Demographic Survey Report offers a simplified look at trends across standardized stages that are mapped by Datapeople for easy comparison across departments with differing workflows
