Job Architecture
Job architecture is the structured framework your organization uses to define and group job roles, levels, and career pathways. The core unit is the job profile, which captures the skills, responsibilities, and leveling for a role.
Most organizations struggle to see this hierarchy clearly and compare job profiles across families and levels. JobNav gives you that visibility in one place, so you can review structure, spot inconsistencies, and compare profile content side by side.
Job architecture in JobNav has three levels:
- Job family groups
- Job families, nested under groups
- Job profiles, nested under families (HRIS-linked profiles synced from your HRIS)
Who can access it
Job Architecture is available to JobNav Operators and Admins. Viewers and Editors can't open Architecture or Compare Job Profiles.
To open it, go to Job Profiles > Insights > Architecture. You can also start a comparison directly from the HRIS-Linked Job Profiles library: select profiles with the checkboxes, then click Compare Selected.
The Job Architecture view
This page shows your full architecture as a single expandable list, nested by group, then family, then profile. Summary counts for Groups, Families, and Job Profiles sit at the top, based on your current filters and search.
Each row shows Name, Job Families, Job Profiles, Employee counts.
Selecting profiles to compare
Use the checkboxes to select one or more job profiles. Selecting a family or group selects everything underneath it. Once you've picked what you want, click Compare Selected (N) to open the Compare Job Profiles page, or Clear to deselect everything.
Search and filters
Search by name to find groups, families, or profiles. Open the filters panel to narrow the list further, including by alert type.
Previewing a job profile
Click a profile row to open a preview in the sidebar: title, status, metadata, profile content, and an Open in Editor button. Any active alerts show up here too.
This preview only appears on the Job Architecture page. It isn't a tab inside the profile editor itself.
Downloading the architecture list
Click Download CSV to export the list.
Comparing job profiles
Once you've selected profiles from the list, Compare Job Profiles opens a side-by-side view where you can review content, customize the comparison, and comment on specific fields or profiles. See Compare Job Profiles for the full description.
