Guide writers with Admin comments on templates
For Admins
Datapeople templates help ensure that all jobs created within your organization are consistent and on-brand—plus, everyone who's creating job posts gets a head start with an optimized partial draft. Admins can currently leave placeholder content in templates by wrapping it in double parentheses ((like this)): any text formatted this way will appear highlighted for writers using the template, and they'll be prompted to replace it.
In addition to placeholder content, we're introducing a new way for Admins to leave additional instructions or guidance for writers: Admin comments!
Admin comments function a bit differently than comments left on job posts. While anyone with access to a job post can leave a comment, Admin comments can only be made by—you guessed it—Admins (since Admins are the only users with access to templates). An Admin comment on a template will be inherited by every job post that uses that template.
The purpose of Admin comments is to give you a new way to guide writers through the job post creation process. Since the person creating these instructional comments may not be the person users should reach out to if they have questions, we don't show the name of the Admin who left the comment—instead, it will appear as a visually distinct type of comment, different from the regular comments users can leave on job posts.
You can still wrap placeholder text in double parentheses if you prefer to guide your users this way, or you can use a combination of placeholder text and Admin comments. We encourage you to play around with both and choose whatever works best for you and your organization.
For non-Admins
If you see an Admin comment on a job post, that means that your Datapeople Admin wanted to provide some additional context, instruction, or guidance on how to best use the template to write your job post. Be sure to read Admin comments carefully. Once you've added the requested content, you can resolve the comment.
