Why is the Gender Report table displaying a warning?
You will see a yellow warning icon at the top right corner of the data table if your candidate pool's gender make-up is unidentifiable to a point that it would be difficult to extract any meaningful information.
Typically the proportion of candidates with unknown gender is ~5%. However, there can be cases where a candidate pool has a high proportion of candidates with unknown gender, such as:
- Candidates have gender-neutral names like Alex, Mel, Kim or Min that have a high probability of being used by both male and female candidates.
- Candidate data has been deleted or anonymized. This can be in relation to GDPR or other privacy regulations or other candidate blinding software.
In cases where the proportion of candidates in the Unknown gender category is too high, the Datapeople Gender Report raises a warning, reminding the user to be cautious in interpreting results.
