Datapeople's Drop-off Report, part of our Process Insights, tracks candidate drop-offs to surface recruiting issues, allowing TA teams to improve processes and candidate experiences.

Datapeople's Drop-off Report

Datapeople's Drop-off Report contains crucial information about when candidates exit your hiring process. It can answer questions like:

  • At what rate are candidates removing themselves from our recruiting processes?
  • At what stage do most candidates drop off? (i.e., out of all active candidates who reached a given stage, what percentage dropped out of that stage?)
  • At what stage do most drop-offs occur? (i.e., out of all candidates who dropped out, what percentage dropped out in a given stage?)
  • How does my company's drop-off rate compare to that of other companies?

Drop-offs are also known as application withdrawals.

A drop-off occurs when a candidate removes themselves from the recruiting process.

Drop-offs can occur in two major ways:

  • A candidate communicates their withdrawal from the recruiting process. This often can come with a drop-off reason/explanation such as compensation misalignment or poor timing.
  • A candidate fails to engage or communicate: This can be non-response to a request or it can be failure to attend a scheduled interview (i.e. ghosting).
Net Applications refer to the total number of resolved candidates--i.e., candidates who have moved past this stage and been hired, rejected, or dropped out at a later stage. This report only includes resolved candidates. Learn more here.

Net Drop-off Rate refers to the proportion of resolved candidates who dropped out at a given stage. This is also shown in the first graph. Active candidates are not included in this calculation. Learn why here.

What data is used for this report?

We map all candidate stages and statuses from the ATS at the time of integration--if there are unknown or unclear entries, we will collaborate with you during onboarding to clarify them. If it seems as though your rejections/dropoffs are being mapped incorrectly, contact your Datapeople Account Rep for assistance. Read more here.

The data used in this report is dependent on candidate stages and resolutions, including rejection and dropoff data, being accurately captured in real time.

Why don't I see the Drop-off Report in my account?

If you don’t see the Drop-off Report, it’s likely because your ATS isn’t integrated with Datapeople. Reach out to your Customer Success Manager to learn more about integrating, which allows deeper insights into your recruiting data via this and other Reports.

Why can't I access the Drop-off Report?

If you receive a message that the Drop-off Report is not accessible at this time, it is likely because your company's overall drop-off rate is suggesting data integrity issues. Therefore, the report won't be useful (and may possibly be misleading) until the data integrity issues are solved. Read more on best practices for collecting drop-offs here.

Why am I receiving a message that my drop-off data may be at risk?

Datapeople has determined the probability at which a drop-off rate likely indicates data integrity issues (ie. drop-offs are not being collected correctly or at all). If your drop-off rate falls along the line of this threshold for the most recently concluded two quarters, you will receive this warning to suggest that you confirm that all team members are collecting drop-off rates correctly. Read more on best practices for collecting drop-offs here.

Why am I receiving a warning on the data table?

A warning on the data table indicates that the number of active candidates in the chosen date range is too high to given a clear picture around your drop-off rate for that date range. Read more here.
