Optimizing Internal vs External Job Posts

Some ATSs allow multiple, different posts on a single requisition. This feature often enables an organization to tailor the language used for internal and external job posts.

At Datapeople, we do not differentiate between the two when scoring jobs because we believe it's important not to assume that an internal audience is always as well-versed in job specifics as the hiring team.

We recommend:

  1. Excluding internal jargon from titles: It's essential to bear in mind that not all internal candidates are familiar with internal jargon or new product lines. Therefore, it is advisable to prioritize accessibility in job titles by excluding internal nomenclature.
  2. Excluding department names from titles: Since departments can typically be utilized in filters on internal job boards, it is unnecessary to include them in job titles.
  3. Including perks and benefits: Internal candidates may not be fully aware of the perks and benefits offered by your company. This is particularly relevant for contractors, part-timers, or individuals based in different locations with varying benefits. Therefore, including benefits is beneficial for all candidates.
