What is Lite mode?

In Datapeople Anywhere, Lite mode is a simplified version of the extension designed specifically for situations where the two-way sync between Datapeople and an Applicant Tracking System (ATS) is not functioning correctly.

In this mode, two-way sync is disabled, meaning that users can still access and view relevant data within the extension, but changes made in their ATS won’t sync with Datapeople, and updates from Datapeople won’t reflect back into the ATS.

You'll see this in the ATS primarily with the lack of purple covers on the pages where you typically edit job posts. These covers indicate the fields which we import, score and then fill with your updated content. When you disable two-way sync in your ATS, you will no longer see the covers and that content will not be imported, updated or scored automatically.

Datapeople Anywhere is on the Lite mode (left) vs the two-way sync mode (right).

When should I disable two-way sync?

The extension automatically defaults to Lite mode in your ATS in two primary circumstances:

  • on your pages where we can't do a two-way sync, for example on pages relating to candidates in your ATS
  • on your ATS's job pages when the ATS updates the structure of that page. This allows users to continue using Datapeople Anywhere through copy and pasting, even when the ATS configuration is unstable or broken.

There are rare cases where a configuration causes Datapeople Anywhere to error out in unexpected ways. In these cases, you can manually disable two-way sync as a temporary workaround. Again, disabling two-way sync enables users to continue using Datapeople Anywhere. However, it also results in loss of access to other context-aware functionality including the Analyze and Comment tabs in the side panel.

How can I disable two-way sync?

You can disable two-way sync in the settings panel of Datapeople Anywhere.

Because this is a temporary workaround, this setting disables sync only for your ATS session. Session length depends on your organization's security policies but typically can range from 15 minutes to many days.
