Seniority Filters

What is the seniority filter?

The seniority filter allows you to filter jobs based on the role’s seniority level. It allows you to easily look at jobs that have a certain seniority—like junior, mid-level, or senior.

How does Datapeople define seniority levels?

Datapeople categorizes seniority into three broad levels: junior, mid-level, and senior. These broader levels can include more specific seniority levels. An internship or entry-level role would be categorized as junior. VP and higher positions fall under the senior level. Our system uses information from the title and job description to infer a role’s seniority level. Generally, junior roles require about 1-3 years of experience, mid-level roles require anywhere from 4-7 years of experience, and senior roles usually require 8 or more years of experience. Each job and industry is unique, and years of experience are just one factor in helping to determine seniority.

Do all jobs receive a seniority tag?

All jobs are assigned a Seniority tag. If the job does not provide enough information, it will be assigned the undefined seniority tag.

Can jobs receive multiple seniority tags?

Some jobs can have more than one Seniority tag assigned. If your job is tagged junior, it could also have any of the other tags that fall under the junior umbrella, like internship or entry-level. If your job is not junior, then it will only have one Seniority tag assigned–either mid-level, senior, or undefined seniority.
